Domestic violence arrests have involved a number of celebrities recently. Everyone from star athletes to even bigger stars of the silver screen are finding themselves in the headlines for spousal abuse. Their arrests show how pervasive the problem of domestic violence really is in our society. Stars such as Corey Dillon, Charlie Sheen and Tito Ortiz have all been in the news for recent spousal abuse arrests.
Some of Hollywood’s biggest stars, such as Charlie Sheen, are linked with domestic violence episodes. The “Wall Street” and “Major League” star was vacationing in Aspen, Co over the 2009 Christmas holiday, when Aspen police responded to a distress call at a private residence. In addition, an ambulance was sent to the ski town residence. Mr. Sheen was taken into custody for investigation of menacing and criminal mischief and second-degree assault. After spending much of Christmas day in the Pitkin County jail, he was released on an $8500 bond.
Tito Ortiz is famous for his mixed martial arts prowess in the Ultimate Fighting Championships. He is now also famous for a different type of fighting. On April 26, the former UFC light heavyweight champion was arrested for felony domestic violence at the home he shares with Jenna Jameson. Jameson, who is a former porn superstar, shares the Huntington Beach, CA home with Tito Ortiz and their twin sons. Police responded to a 911 call and found Jameson with visible bruises. After which, Mr. Ortiz was taken into custody and booked into an Orange County jail. Tito Ortiz has since been released on $25,000 bail.
