If you get a chance to turn on the cable channel one of these afternoons and look at one of those outdated romantic movies, you might be amazed at some of the chivalrous actions that the man exhibits when he is trying to court the attention of the woman. Certainly, these seem outdated today as modern dating rules pay little attention to the way it used to be done and more attention to our “want it now” lifestyle.

There was a time when if you were a man looking for a woman’s interest, a couple of generations ago you would have to follow this certain procedure. If you tried rush through the process you would not be seen as behaving “gentlemanly,” which was unheard of. Some people think that we have lost a lot by switching to modern dating rules, bypassing all these niceties.

It’s perfectly acceptable under modern dating rules for a woman to ask a man out. Anyone can ask anybody, basically and the motivated woman can really go after what she wants without worrying about what society thinks.

You don’t have to announce it you are going on a formal date of any kind, as modern dating rules say that you can treat the time that you spend together as just a process or “hanging out.” You don’t need to label anything if you don’t want to and can go on many events together before even thinking about it.
