I love to give presents, especially house warming presents, because its a great time to meet new people, and welcome them to the street. But all that can be thrown out the door the moment someone gives them some typical gift bought from your local drug store. It is never a pretty sight indeed.

No one likes receiving gifts that require a lot of work to upkeep them, this includes plants. OK, some people love plants, and have 2 green thumbs, but this is still not for everyone. Food? Really, what if you like spicy food, and they go for sweet? What if they are on a diet? And you just brought them a 2000 calorie cheese cake. Getting your gift tossed is pretty hurtful, this is why they might wait until you are gone to do it. When you leave the party, if you gave them something pretty crummy, then you should never expect to see it again.
