Is Marrying A Russian Woman A Legislative Nightmare?
Written by John Gibbons on August 27th, 2008Many people are afraid that soon after your Russian wedding, you will be inundated with administrative work, and Visa hassles. Although there is some paperwork to file and deal with, it is relatively easy compared to what people think it will be like.
Many years later, when you look back on your Russian wedding, you will only recall the exciting wedding day and all the celebrations rather than the hassles you had to deal with later. The hardest part, although, will be the answers you will have to give your concerned family and friends who might insinuate that your Russian bride is only using you to gain citizenship in another country. But you should stay firm on your decision and not get carried away.
There is no query about your marriage with a Russian Woman. Maybe you could have spotted her while holidaying or maybe website that glorifies the dating procedure, but either way, the end point is that you are blissfully in love with her, and have decided to marry her. This feeling of being in love is too great to worry about the little paper work that you have to do.
First of all, you should understand what the Fianc Visa is all about, also known as K-1. These papers would allow your love to reside in the US for stipulated period of time, within which the marriage should take place. Generally, this Visa is valid for 3 months, which is adequate to get married.
The K-1 is a non-immigrant visa that allows your fianc to live with you. But once you are legally married, you will have to prove that you both live together and function as a family. In order to obtain the K-1 visa, as the future spoyse, you will need to submit an Alien fiance petition from I-129F.
This petition is necessary to bring your betrothed, and her children if any, to the United States for wedding. You have to fill in the forms K-3 for your forthcoming mate, and the K-4 forms are to be filled for her children if any. If you hold these Visas, then you can succeed in getting a permanent citizenship in the United States. Never be afraid that your new spouse and her children cannot adapt to the life in the United States as they can get employment there if they have forms K-3 and K-4 after obtaining the Employment Authorization Document.
Although it sounds complicated, it is extremely simple in reality. All that you need to do is follow the guidelines and fill out all the documents that are required. If you need help, there are many agencies that can guide you and tell you how to go about it. You can also opt for attorneys who specialize in this field and they will take care of your visa process, updating you on the outcome regularly.
Of course they do cost money, but it will save you time when dealing with all the paperwork. In addition, many of them have websites in which you can see updates and the progress that you are making with the Visas.
This kind of a marriage is supposed to be enjoyed, so, enjoy your marriage with the new spouse, and depute others to worry about the paperwork.
